Arlene Dickinson of ‘Dragons’ Den’ just landed a whole bunch of people free chips.
The businesswoman and television personality had a nightmare 15 hours at the airport, but managed to turn the situation into a fun Twitter campaign.
“#sharethechips,” Dickinson tweeted while stuck at the airport due to poor weather conditions.
First she came after Air Canada.
Ok Here’s the situation @AirCanada. Flite late 2 hrs. Get onboard. Deice. Taxi. Wait in line. Oops took too long. Go back to gate. Add fuel. Wait to deice..again. No drinks allowed as we wait.— Arlene Dickinson (@ArleneDickinson) February 8, 2018
Sooooo.....where’s the chips??!! There must be free chips for all??! #sharethechips
Sitting on a plane for 2.5 hours. Snow falling. People cranky. I say give everyone free chips!!— Arlene Dickinson (@ArleneDickinson) February 8, 2018
There should be an emergency chip ration somewhere. Please dear God .... let there be chips somewhere on this plane.— Arlene Dickinson (@ArleneDickinson) February 8, 2018
Then she tried to get Lays involved.
Still, no sign of the chips.
Maybe if I turn on my phone locator then a potato chip company could find all 200 of us, as we sit here, with no chips, at gate 58, flight 150, YYC airport. ????— Arlene Dickinson (@ArleneDickinson) February 8, 2018
And when Dickinson and the other passengers were let off the plane for a bit, they sadly were not greeted with snacks.
After 3 hours they have now freed us from the plane to sadly wander off into the airport alone, seeking out our own chips.— Arlene Dickinson (@ArleneDickinson) February 8, 2018
Later she shared some photos of how serious the situation really was.
So @FlyYYC it seems we are here at gate 55 for almost another hour as crews clear the ice in engines. Can you pls warm the frozen team out there and send them chips? Hot chocolate?? Hand warmers??? CanadaGooseInc jackets??? #theSagaContinues pic.twitter.com/plaSH8T9id— Arlene Dickinson (@ArleneDickinson) February 8, 2018
And as you can see, she continued to not give up on the idea of free chips.
Will I be able to get @FlyYYC to bring the hard working, cold ground crew and inflight team free chips? ????????— Arlene Dickinson (@ArleneDickinson) February 8, 2018
Finally, it started to look like she was getting some traction.
And then, remarkably, results. She got everyone their chips!
Thanks for trying @FlyYYC!!! They are all working so hard out there in the cold and we know it’s winter and tough conditions. Thanks from the passengers to all the ground crew and inflight crews. Hard job. #sharethechips https://t.co/PA6Z4UakM9— Arlene Dickinson (@ArleneDickinson) February 8, 2018
Oh my gosh!! Deplaned and look at what was waiting for all the passengers!! #sharethechips has conquered delayed flight blues. THANKS @AirCanada AND #missvickieschips ❤️???????? And lots for the crew too!! pic.twitter.com/2EUFprvQuk— Arlene Dickinson (@ArleneDickinson) February 8, 2018
