History is being made as L’Oreal signs Amena Khan to star in the first international campaign that targets women who wear Hijabs.
The vital message of inclusion and the idea that hair care is essential for every woman, whether they choose to show theirs or not, is the backbone of the new L’Oreal advertisement.
“For me, my hair is an extension of my femininity. I love styling my hair, I love putting products in it, and I love it to smell nice. It’s an expression of who I am,” Khan explains. “And even if that expression is for my home life and my loved ones and for me when I look in the mirror, it’s who I am. If I know my hair is greasy, but I have a scarf on it, I still feel rubbish all day - even if it’s covered,” she told Vogue.
Diversifying television advertisements is a monumental step forward in the fight against bigotry and Islamaphobia. Look out for the L’Oreal ad and Khan's chic style.
