HEALTH Grey's Anatomy

A fan is crediting actress Sarah Chalke with helping her son get diagnosed with a potentially life-threatening disease.

For the fan, Julie, it all started with an episode of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Chalke guested on back in 2013. But for the actress, the story began with her young son.

Chalke’s son Charlie battled Kawasaki disease, an autoimmune disease most often seen in children under the age of five. On ‘Grey’s,’ she did in fact play a mother whose son had Kawasaki disease. Chalke wanted to raise awareness, which she clearly did.

“Had I not seen the episode, I would not have had any idea what Kawasaki Disease was and would not have persisted to have [my son] tested,” wrote Julie on Twitter.

“I’m so glad you got him diagnosed. Thanks for reaching out - that means so much to me to hear that,” responded Chalke.

Chalke is best known for her time on another medical show, the comedy ‘Scrubs,’ and as the second Becky on ‘Roseanne.’ She’s actually already confirmed as returning for the upcoming ‘Roseanne’ revival.

The actress was born in Ottawa and raised in Vancouver.
