There have been many incarnations of ‘Power Rangers,’ but never forget that ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ was the first (the show also spawned a few movies). Actress Amy Jo Johnson was part of the original cast, making her the first Pink Ranger.
While Johnson was born and raised in Massachusetts, she’s lived in Toronto for quite some time, becoming a dual citizen in 2015. Life in Canada has completely changed her career trajectory.
After ‘Power Rangers,’ Johnson appeared in films and TV shows targeted at pre-teens and teenagers before landing a major role on ‘Felicity’ in 1998. But her acting career ultimately slowed down in the mid-2000s. A few years later, however, the Canadian entertainment industry turned her luck around.
From 2008 to 2012, Johnson was part of the main cast of CTV’s ‘Flashpoint.’ She’s gone on to work on several other Canadian shows and movies. In 2013, she began working on her own projects in Canada as a writer, director, and producer.
But her Pink Ranger days aren’t completely behind her. In a show of respect to the original TV series, Johnson made a cameo appearance in the 2017 ‘Power Rangers’ film.
