When the current holder of the Academy Award for Best Director compliments your husband, it’s your right to brag, yes? Shantelle Bisson certainly thinks so.

The writer recently tweeted about an experience she and husband Yannick Bisson, the star of CBC’s ‘Murdoch Mysteries,’ had in Malibu, California.

“Wife brag: tonight [at] dinner [at] a fave Malibu spot @yannick_bisson walked up to the brilliant Guillermo del Toro to congratulate him on his wins [and] thank him for boosting the [Canadian] industry. Then Mr Del Toro introduced my hubby to his friend James Cameron as ‘an institution,’ she wrote.

After elevn seasons and a confirmed twelfth (a rare occurrence in Canada especially), ‘Murdoch Mysteries’ really has earned the right to be called “an institution”.

Del Toro did elevate the Canadian film industry in his most recent production. Many crew members, producers, and more involved in ‘The Shape of Water’ are Canadians, and several even earned Oscar nominations themselves.

Hopefully, however, Cameron had heard of Montrealer Bisson before. After all, between the two directors, it’s Cameron who’s the Canadian.
