CELEBRITY Selena gomez
Ever since her days on Disney Channel's 'Wizards of Waverly Place,' Selena Gomez has been at the center of the entertainment industry. From acting and singing to fashion design and film production, Gomez has proved herself to be a Jack of all trades.
Now, the star revealed she is working as an unpaid intern for the humanitarian organization A21. "I wasn't going to immediately start discussing it. It's out of my comfort zone. I needed to be fully immersed in it," Gomez told Elle for her October cover story.
A21's mission statement explains that their goal is to "abolish slavery everywhere, forever." Gomez has been an asset to the organization since March.
She explained, that she is not coming forward with her commitment to this work because she wants the public to think, "What a great thing another celebrity is doing...'" Selena explained, "That's not why I want to talk about it. I can't be silent about this."
Gomez, who is releasing her third studio album this Fall, spoke of how this charitable position proved to bring balance into her life. "I had been working for so long, and I don't like taking things in my life. I just wanted to serve," she said.
