As the year progresses toward its holly jolly end, the world looks forward to the smooth, buttery voice of the Canadian singer as he emerges from his seeming hibernation to coax us into the holiday spirit. But he might not be feeling merry and bright this year. 

Michael Bublé's son Noah was diagnosed with cancer in 2016, at just three years old, and though he's now in remission, the heartache has taken a huge toll on the soulful singer. 

The 43-year-old artist opened up about his uncertainty surrounding his career in an interview with The Daily Mail's Weekend Magazine. Both he and his wife, Argentinian actress Luisana Lopilato, had to put aside their lives when their first child needed them to be strong in ways they'd never anticipated. Bublé admitted he began to question the world and his place in it. 

He spoke of how he tried to be positive, always referring to the hospital as the "fun hotel" and making forts with bed sheets to pass the bed-ridden time.

Somewhere along the way, Bublé also managed to create an album called 'Love,' set to be released in November, which he said was partly out of gratitude to the millions of people around the world who supported him through this unimaginably hard time, and partly because he loves music and feels the world needs it now more than ever. 

The concerning part of his interview, however, was when he said it would be his last, adding, "I'm retiring from the business. I've made the perfect record and now I can leave at the very top."

In a moment of weakness, which he is more than entitled to, Bublé set the music world aflame by renouncing his fame, claiming he doesn't "have the stomach for it any more." 

Luckily for us, his rep spoke to Us Weekly to assure his loyal fans that the star will not be retiring any time soon, and that "He is not going anywhere."
