CELEBRITY Courtney Love
Grunge idol Courtney Love has donned some iconic outfits in the past, but now the 54-year-old she feels she's grown out of those looks, and she's going to clean out her closet with the help of shoppers like you.
Love teamed up with women's clothing resale website Heroine to sell some of her most legendary ensembles, launching the virtual garage sale on December 6.
“I recently just did a bunch of stuff [to declutter] my life, throwing things out that didn’t serve me,” she told Vogue. “But my closet was too amazing to throw out. I think that a wardrobe is a living, breathing thing, like, I’ve been known to talk to my dresses.”
The sale consists of just 43 pieces from her living, breathing personal collection, including dresses by Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Marc Jacobs. Her most talked-about outfits will be up for grabs, starting with some T-shirts at a very affordable US$50.

The suit Love famously wore in Saint Laurent's Fall 2013 campaign shot by Hedi Slimane is the most expensive piece in the collection, and it will go for US$1,400. She has a story behind almost every piece on sale, and she reminisced to Vogue about the Saint Laurent shoot, explaining that Slimane loved taking pictures of her smoking, and she loved smoking at the time, so they got along just fine.
All proceeds from the sale will go to Stand for Courage, her sister’s Seattle-based nonprofit that helps to protect and prevent bullying among kids.
