CELEBRITY Meghan Markle
In a world where the Markle Effect is in full swing, with people racing to stores to buy the very same looks as the Duchess of Sussex herself, it seems not everyone appreciates her fashion sense.
Meghan Markle recently visited Smart Works, a charity that uses donations to help unemployed women by giving them a boost of confidence with high-fashion attire, paired with training, for job interviews. The Duchess, a patron of the charity, appeared in a very simple but sleek black maternity dress and an Oscar de la Renta coat, ready to help some lucky women get styled up, using some of her own donations as well.
It seems, however, that Markle has found the first woman in the world to dislike her taste. In a video obtained by the Daily Mail, while the pregnant royal is helping one of the organizers put together an outfit, she admits, "The last time I was here, I suggested a purse to someone, and it was one that I’d donated, and she didn’t like it!"
The organizer, much like most of the world, gave a disbelieving, "No!" If only that woman knew how much a purse once owned by Markle would sell for on the internet.
“I was like oh okay, next time,” Markle laughed. “I thought it was great!”
A humbling moment for the royal whose style has been copied time and again, since even before Prince Harry came along. It begs the question: do people like Markle's clothes because they're stylish, or because she wore them? To each her own taste.
