Traditional winemakers don't know what to think about a new bright, blue coloured wine, with some even calling it blasphemous.

Six young winemakers created the blue wine company Gïk Live. They wanted to create a sweeter, easier-to-drink alternative to traditional red or white wine.

"Drinking Gïk is not just about drinking blue wine; you are drinking innovation, you are drinking creation," the co-founders of the company told NowThis. "You are breaking the rules and creating your own ones. You are reinventing traditions."

The base is a blend of red and white grapes, and the vibrant blue color comes from the skin of the red grape mixed with another natural pigment called indigotin. The result is a colored wine with an ABV of 11.5%.

"We know some people may see us as rioters," one of the companies founders, Aritz López, told Munchies. "Actually, some traditional winemakers have told us that Gïk is a blasphemy or a terrible invention. One of them even encouraged us to go create apps and leave the industry alone. But we just feel that what we do makes a lot of sense. We like transgression, trying to change people's minds."

Would you end your day with a nice glass of blue wine?
