Singer Shawn Hook is distancing himself from Hedley in the midst of the sexual misconduct allegations against the band, but will continue to tour with them.
In the wake of the allegations, which have seen #outHedley2k18 surface on Twitter with stories of inappropriate behaviour by the band towards female fans, Hook issued a statement on his Facebook page.
“I’m obviously disheartened by the recent allegations against the members of Hedley. Going to a concert and meeting the Artist or the Band is one of the best experiences a fan can have. It saddens and angers me that any artist may have taken advantage of that experience,” said Hook.
“In the event such actions occurred, I hope those members will be held accountable,” he continued. “At this point in time, I am choosing to fulfill my contractual obligations and will remain on this tour for my fans across Canada who have purchased tickets to see me.”
So far fans are reacting positively to Hook’s message, with some believing his statement is more meaningful than Hedley’s on the issue.
