A virtual tour of Meghan and Harry’s likely honeymoon destination - It is rumored that the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to go to Namibia to celebrate their wedding. 

If you're surprised by their choice, don't be. As one of the least populated countries in the world, the southern African nation is the perfect destination for love birds in search of beautiful scenery and some quiet time.

Namib Sand Sea - This coastal desert is the only in the world to have extensive dune fields influenced by fog. Its beautiful red sands contrast beautifully with the waves, giving off an out-of-this-world sight.

Deadvlei - Located near Sossusvlei, Deadvlei is where you can find one of Namibia's most iconic sights. Meaning "dead marsh," Deadvlei's dead trees surrounded by red sand dunes are a must-see.

Dune 45 - Visitors are allowed to climb this 80-meter sand dune to witness the most spectacular sunrises.

Spitzkoppe - Spring 1,700 m above sea level—it's not hard to see why this beautiful bald granite peak is known as Spitzkoppe, German for "pointed dome." The peak is also known as Matterhorn of the south given its similarity to the mountain of the Alps.

Moon landscapes - A trip to the moon is a only short drive from the city of Swakopmund. These barren hills stretch for several miles in central Namibia.

Skeleton Coast - Located on the country's northern coast, it was dubbed by Portuguese sailors as "The Gates of Hell" because of its harsh conditions.

Eduard Bohlen shipwreck - It is no wonder, then, that the Skeleton Coast is littered with the skeletons of ships. The Eduard Bohlen is a particularly vivid reminder of the unforgiving conditions of the land. The shipwreck occurred in 1909, and now lies 400 meters from the shore, partially covered by sand.

Kolmanskop ghost town - Officially abandoned in 1954, the remains of this former mining town give hints of its prosperous past.

Fish River Canyon - Located in southern Namibia, this 550 meters deep canyon is the largest in Africa.

Kunene Region - This mountainous region offers a great opportunity to interact with the local Himba people and learn about their beautiful traditions. They're commonly recognized by the red clay on their skin, which serves as protection against the sun and insects.

Twyfelfontein - Also located in the Kunene Region, this is the site of some 2,500 ancient rock engravings dating back 6,000 years.

"Fairy circles" - The mysterious bare patches that grow and recede with time have long puzzled scientists. Some say the grass concentrates in patches to make better use of the scarcely available water. Others believe that the patches are the work of termites.

Hoba meteorite - Namibia is home to the largest single meteorite ever found on Earth. The 66-ton iron-nickel meteorite is located near Grootfontein where in 1920, a farmer uncovered it while plowing the field.

Some of these plants are more than 1,000 years old, with the oldest specimens reaching 2,000. The nickname "living fossil" doesn't seem that much of a stretch now, does it?

Stargaze in the desert - Namibia offers some of the best stargazing landscapes. The dry desert air allows for crystal clear skies, especially if you plan a trip to the desert during a new moon.

Tropic of Capricorn - Located in the middle of nowhere between Sossusvlei and Walvis Bay, the sign marks the crossing of the Tropic of Capricorn. The sign isn't 100% precise, given that the Tropic of Capricorn has a different position every year. But it's definitely somewhere around there, and the scenery is amazing.

"Each and Every Word" plaque - If you find yourself in Solitaire in central Namibia, look for markers right behind the gas station. There you'll find a plaque with the words "Each and Every Word," installed by Jacques Junius in 2010. It was part of an art project that spans almost 30 countries and explores the existential beliefs of an imaginary community, according to Atlas Obscura.

Click language - Namibia is home to ethnic groups that speak languages that incorporate click sounds as consonants. If you have the chance, take the opportunity to talk to native speakers and witness these beautiful sounds.

Old cars in the desert - Namibia's arid landscapes are dotted with abandoned old cars. The lack of air moisture conserves the cars really well, and their rusty appearance pairs splendidly with the scenery.

Wild horses - Namibia is also home to Africa's only herd of feral horses. With an estimated population between 90 and 150, the Namib Desert Horse can be seen near the city of Aus in southern Namibia.
