The new Aunt Hilda has been cast, and she has the original’s blessing.
Canadian comedian Caroline Rhea reached out to Lucy Davis to congratulate her on landing the role of Hilda Spellman in the ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ Netflix reboot. Rhea originated the role, playing the witchy aunt from 1996 to 2003.
“Congratulations @RealLucyDavis,” tweeted Rhea. “You will be a brilliant #AuntHilda2.0. It was the greatest role. This makes us long lost twins?”

Davis has already responded and seems to be a fan of Rhea’s herself. “You are fabulous and I am delighted and a teeeensy bit nervous to follow in ur shoes,” she tweeted.

“You are hilarious in everything,” Rhea responded. “I'm a size 9. My shoes are yours.”

Rhea, however, had previously tweeted some reservations around the new show, wondering why ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ was getting the reboot treatment instead of being revived like ‘Will & Grace’ and ‘Roseanne.’
Why is every sitcom from the 90's being remade except for #sabrinatheteenagewitch which is coming back as a Dark Arts version? #matchgame

But now it seems the casting choice of Davis, who stood out in last year’s ‘Wonder Woman’ film, has changed Rhea’s mind on the matter.
